On February 2nd, Jesse Lankford of Loosey Goosey Zine collaborated with California-based The Infusion Project to host a series of showcases throughout out Chicago.
The “Art Show” at Beauty Bar Cafe featured Remo (me) of the Tribe, along with good friend Kathleen Boudwin. Child-homie Kevin Hsia surprised the night by opened the night with some tunes.
Photos for the night, besides my instagram shots, were provided by Poggled. Click here to see the good photos that were not shot on instagram. You might have to like em on Facebook before you see the photos.
I’ve been sketching quite a bit on my most recent project with Bearbook. Many members of Wild Man Design Tribe will be contributing works and interpretation of the “Teeth” the theme of this first publication.
Support and order your Bearbook today, here!
“Bearbook is presented by Jillian Barthold with Ashley Rose Reinsmith and Kady Dennell.
Bearbook is an art collaboration quarterly in the form of a zine/chapbook sized book that brings artists of all mediums and concentrations together around a common theme. This could include but is not limited to photographers, painters, graphic designers, printmakers, culinary artists, papercutters, fashion designers, writers, etc. The first theme is “teeth” and the book will include 40-50 submissions that all somehow include the artist’s interpretation/incorporation of teeth.”
It was recently my little nephew’s birthday the day before Valentines Day. He just turned 6. I have some serious pride and love for this kid. He told me one day he wanted to become an artist like me.
NO. WILD MAN DESIGN TRIBE IS NOT DEAD.

Also, follow us on Facebook (we want everyone to do it)
IDK if you guys care about your signatures but i do. Go ahead and forge it, since these are my roughs. I’m not scurred.

THE LEFT HAND JOURNEY
ILLUSTRATION | 2011Since I started drawing with my left hand again, I’ve been enjoying drawing to the fullest. All those frustrating times are now over. When I need a break, I just whip out my sketchbook and do a lil some some. I lost some old style and got some new, but I’m just happy to get it out.
COME SUPPORT ASO, WMDT, AND REMO!!!

CLASS - DRAWING THE GRAPHIC NOVEL
PEN & INK
By Chris Dazzo:
MADE THIS COMIC FOR CLASS ABOUT A TIME I GOT DRUNK AND STARTED WRESTLING MY FRIEND, AND ENDED UP WITH A BIG GASH ON MY HEAD. 4 STAPLES. WE HAD TO WRITE A STORY ABOUT A TIME WE DIDNT REMEMBER AND ABOUT 3/4 OF THE CLASS ENDED UP WITH SOME DRUNKEN STORY… MY STORY WAS KINDA RUSHED DUE TO LACK OF TIME, BUT I THINK IT TURNED OUT PRETTY GOOD FOR ANOTHER DRUNK STORY, BUT I LET THE IMAGES DO THE TALKING AND WITH LITTLE TEXT AS POSSIBLE. LAYING OUT 29 PANELS SUCKED!
MORE TO COME.

“Donnybrook”
Self Initiated
Zine // Illustration // Short FilmBy Chas Appleby
Story and Short Film By Chris Birkmeier
This project was adapting a short film by Chris Birkmeier’s Liberum Pictures titled “Donnybrook” into a mini 8 page black and white zine. The story is inspired by William Goldings “Lord of the Flies.” Everything was hand illustrated with pencil stages into ink into digital copies to be printed. This was a fun practice for my story boarding skills as well as adapting images to a visual story. The process of scanning and altering dpi and threshold for optimum printing was very valuable and interesting. Check out the short film on Liberum Pictures Vimeo page here. And contact me if you like what you see or would like to work together on something similar in the future.

COVER DESIGN/PUBLICATION DESIGN WITH CRAIG JOBSONBY ADAM JANSEN
This cover was actually not chosen to be put on the cover. Another huge injustice against the principles of design. But it’s actually a revision of my original design, so this was submitted a couple weeks after the deadline. but its not like the print ready files have been submitted to the production coordinator yet! Come on! We’re actually going with an illustration of a cat in a space suit drifting through space. ugh* kill me slowly columbia… one cat, one owl, one zombie at a time.
Blood Oath Tees
Commissioned
Screen Printed Tees
By Chas ApplebyThis project was made possible thanks to my buddy Ricky Staffieri. His comedy group known as BLOOD OATH needed some merch for their show spanning the entire month of November at Stage 773. Go check out the show at 1225 W. Belmont Chicago, IL. Follow the group on Facebook and snag a tee at the show!
These tees were printed thanks to the unimaginable schedule Remo has. We banged them out in a matter of one hour probably. With a good number of screens and the capabilities to create these simple shirts, the tribe will hopefully be taking on many more silk screening projects. Thanks again hope you guys make it out to see BLOOD OATH!!!
Some work by Adam Jansen for his Contemporary Issues of Print Making class.
